Sandy Shokar and her company Phera Diamonds / Diamond Deals Jewelry Stores is being sued for $35,000+ dollars for wrongful dismissal!
The two day BC Court trial is scheduled for November 14-15, 2017. The trial will be at the Vancouver Court House at 800 Hornby Street Vancouver, BC.
Court documents allege that Ms. Sandy Shokar and “Diamond Deals” / Phera Diamonds employed the Filipino Nanny under a 24-month fixed-term employment contract and then terminated her employment without cause. The Nanny was hired and came to Canada under the Canada Live-in Caregiver Program.
Sandy Shokar and her company “Diamond Deals” / Phera Diamonds, Jewelry Stores is being sued for $35,000+ dollars for wrongful dismissal!
It is alleged that the Filipino Nanny was offered cash payments to work without authorization until the LMIA and work permit were approved.

Too Rich to be charged?

However, it is alleged the Filipino Nanny was made to work a various Diamond Deals Jewelry Stores located in Downtown Vancouver and Surrey, BC. Furthermore, it is alleged the Nanny had to work at an “AirBnB” owned by Ms. Sandy Shokar in North Vancouver.
It is alleged that the Filipino Nanny was offered cash payments to work without authorization until the LMIA and work permit were approved.
This Court Case of a new to Canada Filipino Caregiver suing an employer who is a Rich West Vancouver Diamond Dealer for Wrongful Dismissal is going to be interesting.
The Court date and trial will be public and is expected to last 2 days, November 14-15, 2017. The very public Vancouver Court date will be at the Vancouver Court House at 800 Hornby Street, Vancouver, BC.
A question for Canada Immigration and Canadian Border Services (CBSA) why has Sandy Shokar, if she has had problems in the past with Sponsoring a Nanny / Caregiver allowed to get another Nanny? Toss one aside and if they sue for wrongful dismissal call it Blackmail again?
Furthermore, why has Sandy Shokar and Diamond Deals not been charged by CBSA?
Too Rich to be charged?
The temporary foreign worker caregiver program needs to ensure that caregivers have the same rights as other workers in Canada and issues open work permits and permanent residency. Domestic work is work, and all domestic workers deserve the same rights as all workers.
Local and Philipines Newsmedia and a representative from the Philipines Consulate are expected to attend the Court Trial.
